Cloverfield

Today Kelly and I went to see Cloverfield. It was good, though be sure to bring motion-sickness pills. And maybe ibuprofen. I think I will enjoy watching it again on a smaller screen, but even with the constant shaking camera, it was a good movie.

Today I also watched this interesting History Channel show “Life After People‘, which followed nature’s resurgence if, hypothetically, every human vanished tomorrow. The CG wasn’t movie quality, but it was still pretty cool.

there was a science book recently published about the resurgence of nature after the fall of man. i heard the author interviewed on the radio and what i found really interesting was the amount of time that it would take some of these things to happen. the earth would become a jungle in a very short period of time. i will have to check out “Life After People”.

Oh, here’s the book…. http://www.worldwithoutus.com/

have a good week. try not to work to hard.

I think (I’m pretty sure) that I’d seen a review + image from World Without Us that ran through much of the same details that Life After People did. In fact, it was likely based on the same information.

There definitely seems to be a theme developing in these times of uncertainty… that now, again, we as a race can envision the planet w/o us (most likely due to our own doing). I find it bittersweet that the planet will recover from the ‘virus’ that is humanity and can (and will) return to a state of balance pretty quickly. Even if it means the end of countless species in the meantime.

One thing I wish Life After People explored a bit more was not only how life as we know it (wolves, dogs, bears) would see new growth, but over thousands of years, how they might evolve w/o us here to restrict & alter their living patterns.
