I just learned of a “time capsule” of an apartment in Paris, abandoned by a French socialite in 1942 and left untouched until a couple years ago. The apartment belonged to Marthe de Florian, who paid the rent (despite never returning to the apartment) until her death a couple years ago. Interesting glimpse into the past. You can read more about the apartment and it’s former owner here and here.
Just got home a bit ago, it’s raining steadily and I’m out on the front porch when suddenly I see a rat scurry up to the house. Not a cute little mouse, or ugly opossum, or bandit-like raccoon like I’m used to, but a fairly large rat. WTF? I think the cat’s not doing his evil duty. Time to ration the food pellets.
