I’ve been pretty quiet about this, since K and I wanted to make sure everything was going well, but today we had our 18 week ultrasound for our TWINS! Holy crap am I scared, and yet super excited! They’re healthy, each weighing in at 8oz, and growing normally with no signs of any issues. We’d found out a while back they were fraternal, but today we found out the news we were both hoping for: one of each! Now Max gets both a little bro AND a little sis! So, with a little Dr. Seuss nod, the first photos of our new family members:

One talk summed up the group mentality of the event. Thomas Marzano, Head of Global Brand Design for Philips, quoted his father:

“The future is made by those who take responsibility for it.”

It’s easy to do nothing while huge corporations take control of technology, the internet, and other data. It’s incredibly hard to be noisy, make a fuss, and work against the flow of so many of our friends and colleagues. The future is made by those who take responsibility for it. And it may be destroyed by those who look the other way.

2014 Summer Solstice

Today Kelly, Max and I went to the Oregon coast for a few hours to meet up with some good friends at Fort Stevens State Park. The weather was fantastic. The beach was windy, but the ocean was warm enough to wade in with Max and not freeze. A rarity this early in the summer.

We returned home with time for me to grill some veggies and have a few beers while enjoying the warm summer evening.

And here we are at 10:00pm with it still light enough out to enjoy the evening. This is my favorite time of year, when it’s light out late, roses and other flowers still (barely) in bloom, and warm enough to be out this late in shorts. I wait all year for this night.
